Stamp Collecting is COOL! 😎💌

Hi, Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening or Good Night, wherever you are reading this from... or if you are reading this.

I am Rux. I was born and raised in England, UK. I have many varied interests like boxing, art, current affairs, and making sure I scoff a few chocolate bars every day without fail! Yes, I'm the biggest chocoholic you'll ever come across. 😎🍫

But the main interest I would like to share with you today is Philately. In other words, Stamp Collecting.

Stamp Collecting to me is the best hobby in the World! And I'm here to prove it to you. 💌

The worlds first adhesive postage stamp to be issued was the Penny Black, on 1st May 1840. Since then, there have been us Stamp Collectors. 😎❤

When you think of the word Stamp Collector, what comes to mind? Retired Gentleman in his 80s smoking a Pipe whilst sat at the desk with a magnifying glass pressed against his eye, placing old stamps into an album?

Yes, there's a lot of them, and their experience, collections, passion, etc. are more than valued by fellow collectors.

But there's also us, the Newbies, or the young folk, or the Women.

You see, the main thing I love about this hobby and why I class it as the best hobby in the world is the fact that fellow collectors can come together. Folk of various backgrounds, countries colours, genders, political and religious views, occupations and financial status, to discuss and enjoy a common hobby that does not discriminate and welcomes all, no matter who you are.

I've seen this on Groups on Facebook. I saw a soon to be retired Doctor from one side of the planet discuss stamps with a young College student on the other side of the planet.
You know what the religious/political divide is like between neighbouring South Asian Countries, Pakistan and India are, right? It's tense. However, An Indian and Pakistani who share a common hobby and passion are frequently exchanging stamps for their collections and discussing this common hobby. I love it! I want to bring more people together through stamps! 😊

Since Great Britain issued the iconic 1840 Penny Black, the world's followed on by countries issuing stamps of many designs, themes, artwork, you name it! You can collect a British stamp with a picture of Darth Vader on it, or you can get the standard postage stamp with the Queen's head.
You can collect stamps featuring plants, animals, film/tv icons, sports, historical and important figures, and the list goes on! 👍

There's something for everyone in the world of Stamp Collecting.
